The Best Melbourne Removalists – What to expect in a moving company!

Moving is a stressful time for many people, so you don’t need added stress from the Melbourne moving company that YOU are paying for. Why should you pay an obscene amount?

Let’s take a little time to look at the professionals, what they offer, and what you deserve!

Training – Knowledge is power.

Removalists in and around Melbourne have had a mixed reputation when it comes to getting the job done, so it is very important to find one that invests in their training. MiniMovers is famous for hiring only inexperienced people, and using a very structured program to ensure that each and every operator is trained right.

How to pay? Hourly or Fixed

Traditionally, you would call up your Melbourne Removalist. They would send someone over to take a look, and later would contact you to give you a quote. This meant that it could take around 2 weeks just to get a quote, which is too long if you need to be out quickly. To ensure that they won’t be out of pocket, the quote is normally overestimated, which means you pay more for your move.

Finding a mover that charges an hourly rate means they can normally have a truck sent out to you within an hour, and if you find a moving company that lets you help, it can frequently come to less than if you rent a truck yourself and do it.

Insurance or Guarantee – Included or not included

Something you should always be aware of is EXTRA costs, as most removalists have them. One particular extra cost is Insurance. Be aware, I am not an insurance broker, so I would recommend speaking to one if you have further questions. Insurance is not a bad thing, if you have expensive items it helps to know that there is something to cover.

There are also moving companies that have written guarantees of care, there are a few around right now that say they do but ensure you read the fine print. Find one that covers anything that THEY do on all aspects of the move, not JUST transit. If that 67” flat screen TV slips out or the removalists’ hands and the response is that it is only covered for “transit”, you will find yourself regretting not taking the time to make sure. Read the small print!

Reputation – Online and Offline

Facebook, websites, forums, etc, are GREAT places to check to see other people’s experiences. Good/Bad past customers will tell you if you should think twice. Read their comments, check if there are any complaints.

In the end you just need to take the time and research what is the best choice for you. Sites such as Helpyoumove make it easier to arm yourself with the knowledge to prevent extra problems on an already stressful day.

Make a list on what you want from your Melbourne removalist, and ask questions. Take the time to ask a few! Remember, they work for you, not the other way around.
